Crossroads

This is where the rubber meets the road.
This is where we’ll see her heart unfold.
For six long months she’d held him in esteem,
To find out things are rarely as they seem.
She thought she saw the sun shine from his face;
That he himself invented charm and grace.
He tried to tell her that he was not good.
She thought he could be, only if he would
Open up the secrets of his past.
Now she does regret the questions asked.
There are two versions of him that contend
Inside her mind.  She’d rather just pretend.
But she can’t retreat upon the road
When starting out she felt so very bold.
Confused she sits feeling old and cold.
She doesn’t know the way at this crossroads.
